Job summary

Actalent seeks a Distribution Engineer to design and manage electrical distribution systems delivering power to residential, commercial, and industrial customers. You will perform load flow, fault analyses, and voltage drop calculations, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance while supporting system modernization and expansion.

Qualifications

• BS in electrical engineering or closely related field; MS preferred.
• ABET-accredited program preferred.
• Power distribution design, analysis, or operations experience.
• Proficiency with CAD tools and power system simulation software.
• Experience with AutoCAD for electrical design and layout.
• Familiarity with GIS for distribution networks.
• Knowledge of substation design and protection.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and optimize electrical distribution systems (overhead/underground).
• Perform load flow, fault, and voltage drop analyses to assess capacity.
• Maintain records, assess asset condition, and recommend replacements.
• Specify transformers, breakers, switches, and protective devices.
• Ensure safety, codes, and regulatory compliance; liaise with authorities.
• Improve reliability and power quality; plan for resilience and load growth.
• Manage distribution projects from conception to completion (scope, schedule, budget).
• Respond to outages with rapid assessment and restoration planning.
• Analyze monitoring data to identify trends and support decisions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for design alignment.
