Job summary

Actalent is seeking an entry-level Distribution Design Engineer I in Grand Rapids, MI for planning, engineering, and designing electric distribution systems to safely deliver power. Training is provided and growth opportunities exist within a large power engineering organization.

You will work under experienced engineers, perform field and office tasks, use AutoCAD or MicroStation, and collaborate with clients to ensure project success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering with electrical, mechanical, civil or environmental focus.
• Associates degree plus 13 years relevant experience considered.
• Experience designing with electric utilities or consulting.
• Proficient CAD experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation.

Responsibilities

• Plan, engineer, and design electric distribution systems for residential and commercial customers.
• Determine needs, size, location, and timing of power delivery infrastructure within constraints.
• Develop work packages for overhead and underground distribution systems.
• Perform field engineering to gather requirements and verify conditions.
• Create distribution drawings and documentation using CAD tools.
• Support post-construction reviews to ensure design meets requirements.
