Softnetworks in Whippany, NJ seeks a Junior PC/IT Hardware Repair Technician. You will disassemble, test, repair, and upgrade PCs, laptops, tablets, and Chromebooks while documenting hardware specs and AD setup.

Strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential as you work in a fast-paced environment. You will handle device intake, inventory updates, OS upgrades, and basic networking tasks, ensuring devices are clean and functioning before client return.

Qualifications

• Attention to detail and careful workmanship.
• Experience repairing PCs, laptops, tablets, iPad, or Chromebooks.
• Familiarity with Windows OS installation and upgrades.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory is a plus.
• Basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing).

Responsibilities

• Disassemble devices (PCs, laptops, tablets) for repair.
• Test OS and hardware, perform OS upgrades as needed.
• Examine devices and record OS, memory, storage, and condition.
• Diagnose defective IT equipment and perform repairs.
• Clean devices before returning to clients.
• Test device performance and core features.
• Receive devices and report into inventory system.
• Record hardware details in the inventory system.

Junior PC / IT Hardware Repair Technician

Duties:

• Disassemble devices such as PC, laptops, iPad & Chromebooks.
• Test PC , Laptop , tablet for O.S. – Do O.S. upgrades as needed
• Examine IT devices and record O.S., memory, HD, physical condition, etc.
• Examine and diagnose defective IT equipment.
• Perform repairs to IT devices
• Clean IT devices before they are returned to clients.
• Test device performance and functionality of key features
• Receive IT devices into warehouse and report into Inventory system
• Record IT hardware detail information into our inventory system
• Set up and maintain Microsoft Active Directory

Skills/Qualifications:

• Attention to detail
• Repair experience for one or more of the following: PC, Laptop, Tablet, iPad
• Experience with Windows / loading and upgrading
• PC / Desktop / Notebook basic testing and upgrading
• Microsoft Active Directory
• Networking hardware testing, upgrading and troubleshooting
• TCP/IP, Routing and Subnetting
• Communication and organizational abilities
