Job summary

The City of Marysville, WA, is seeking an entry level Maintenance Worker I to assist with installation, inspection, maintenance, repair, and servicing of municipal parks, grounds, facilities, and related infrastructure. You will work on a crew with supervision and assist senior staff with operating maintenance equipment, flagging, and preventive tasks.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, a valid WA driver's license within one month, and first aid/CPR and flagger certifications

Qualifications

• One year of experience in parks, grounds, facilities, streets, or municipal utilities maintenance or construction.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Must possess, or be able to obtain within one month of hire, a Washington State Driver’s License.
• Must possess, or be able to obtain within six months of hire, first aid and CPR certifications.
• Must possess, or be able to obtain within six months of hire, flagger certification.

Responsibilities

• Installs, inspects, maintains, repairs, and services municipal utilities, facilities or equipment as assigned.
• Assists senior employees with operation of maintenance equipment (weed eaters, hedge trimmers, backpack blower, hand and power tools).
• Assists with traffic control situations including flagging and work zone setup for crew safety.
• May be assigned to other divisions during peak workloads or emergencies.
• Accepts guidance, direction, and feedback from others.
• Prepares facilities for routine use and special events; performs routine facility, grounds and landscape maintenance including painting, mowing (not to exceed 60-inch mower), and preventive maintenance.
• Assists senior employees in construction, installation, maintenance, and renovation of park facilities and related systems (plumbing, irrigation, drainage, wiring).
• Assists with monitoring security requirements for park facilities and work sites.
