Job summary

The Grand River Energy Center, operated by Grand River Dam Authority, is seeking an entry-level operations assistant to support the plant operations team. This role performs semi-skilled manual work under supervision and helps maintain logs, monitor equipment, and respond to normal and emergency conditions.

Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma or equivalent; two years of technical training or related operations experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Two-year technical or vocational training preferred in the assigned field.
• Minimum two years of operations experience at a generation or large industrial facility preferred.
• Advanced combustion turbine training/experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Promotes improvement to safety and equipment reliability.
• Operate plant equipment during normal and emergency operations.
• Monitor and inspect plant equipment for normal operation.
• Maintain operating logs and perform mathematical calculations related to plant activities.
• Report abnormal conditions and take corrective actions.
• Provide input on equipment conditions and potential risks.
• Perform scheduled tests to maintain regulatory compliance.
• Operate heavy equipment ( forklifts, boom lifts ).
• Train for firefighting and emergency response programs as required.
• Other duties as assigned.
