Nurse Manager
REPORTS TO: Administrator
I. JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and supervising the restorative nursing program for the facility. Acts as a liaison between formalized therapy and nursing. Promotes a restorative nursing philosophy among all facility departments and works closely with the staff to ensure the restorative plan of care is followed, thereby promoting residents' highest level of function.
II. QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice as an RN or LPN in Illinois.
- Must be restorative certified by an accredited school or recognized agency.
- Must have current CPR certification or obtain it within two weeks of employment.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly.
III. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Ability to cope with mental and emotional stress.
- Ability to work independently with flexibility and integrity, effectively interacting with residents, families, staff, and support agencies.
- Good health and emotional stability.
- Ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and sometimes hostile individuals.
- Capability to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, or residents over 50 pounds.
- Exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions, including HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis B.
IV. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct restorative care services and programs in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain a current list of residents in each unit, detailing their restorative care needs.
- Set up documentation flow sheets or electronic records for daily restorative nursing documentation.
- Make quarterly progress notes, ensuring they are informative and descriptive.
- Ensure restorative care is reflected in the care plans.
- Oversee the provision of formalized therapy and the procurement of assistive devices as recommended.
- Coordinate with Nursing and Dietary departments to ensure availability and proper documentation of assistive devices.
- Collaborate with Therapy to implement discharge recommendations.
- Perform or oversee functional assessments and develop restorative plans in consultation with nursing staff.
- Monitor residents' ADL performance and documentation accuracy.
- Manage incontinent care programs.
- Participate in care planning conferences and provide recommendations.
- Complete sections of MDS and CAA, reporting on progress.
- Track and report restorative care accomplishments quarterly.
- Develop tools for QI audits and participate in quality improvement activities, utilizing data to improve services.
- Innovate and motivate staff to maintain enthusiasm for restorative nursing.
- Ensure equipment and supplies are available and functioning properly.
- Collaborate with staff to resolve issues related to restorative nursing care.
