Job summary

Smurfit Westrock’s Stevenson Mill in Alabama seeks entry-level applicants for a 12-hour rotating shift in a large pulp and paper operation. You will learn, rotate, and progress up to the top job classification within the department’s system and may serve on the Emergency Response Team with training in disaster response and safety procedures.

Candidates must be 18+, have a high school diploma or GED, and be willing to work rotating shifts and occasional off days; 2 years of continuous work

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Pulp & Paper Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience operating an overhead crane preferred.
• Experience operating bobcat, lift truck, clamp truck and scissors lift preferred.
• Experience working around large moving machinery preferred.
• Experience working a rotating shift preferred.
• 2 years of continuous work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the Emergency Response Team (ERT).
• Read and understand technical correspondence, memos, instructions, and reports.
• Carry out tasks requiring a sequence of steps and handling upset conditions that may affect operations.
• Select and properly use personal protective equipment per hazard-specific requirements.
• Safely use equipment and tools.
• Learn, perform, rotate, and progress up to the top job classification within the department’s progression.
