Job summary

The role requires 12-hour rotating shifts, strong leadership, and the ability to manage outages and investigations while coaching crews and coordinating with management. Union experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma / GED or Engineering degree required.
• Supervisory/management experience required.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities.
• Excellent planning, organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
• Leadership and motivational skills.
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Analytical and decision-making skills.
• Ability to select and properly use PPE per hazards and requirements.
• Experience in a unionized location is preferred.
• Experience in supervisory roles preferred.
• Familiar with Outlook, Acrobat, MS Office (Word, Excel), EPAM and PI; ability to learn new applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and coaching to rotating shift crews in the Paper Machine and Shipping Department.
• Facilitate training of crew members to maximize timely training.
• Troubleshoot machine, shipping, quality, and winder issues as they arise.
• Monitor workmanship and compliance with environmental, quality, safety, and WestRock standards.
• Conduct accident, near miss, and contractor investigations.
• Communicate status, planned repairs, solutions, and safety to mill staff.
• Direct the shift mechanical and electrical crews.
• Plan and execute outages in the department.
• Oversee emergency work within the department on their shift.
• Maintain housekeeping across the departments.
