Job summary

Gilder Search Group is seeking an entry‑level to mid‑level Materials Engineer to join a precision metallurgical testing lab just south of Dayton, Ohio. This hybrid role blends hands‑on sample prep with back‑end reporting, with full training on internal procedures and a clear growth path.

You will interpret orders, prepare samples, perform destructive tests, analyze microstructures, and produce final certification reports for aerospace and automotive clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a materials/metallurgical/engineering or physics field.
• Foundational knowledge of materials science and metallic structures.
• Strong reporting and documentation skills for technical reports.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples and perform destructive tests as part of QA lab work.
• Interpret customer orders and engineering specifications to create work instructions.
• Analyze microstructures and generate final certification reports.
• Communicate test status and data interpretation with customers.
• Maintain a clean, safe lab and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
