Job summary

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company in New York, NY is seeking an entry-level Engineer to help support project teams across mechanical, electrical and general construction disciplines. You will assist with coordinating owner representatives, architects, engineers and site subcontractors, and help manage budgets, schedules and field issues.

The role includes interpreting drawings, reviewing specifications, tracking changes and writing simple contracts or purchase orders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or higher in an engineering or construction-related field.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles and construction practices.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate work with owner representatives, architects, engineers, inspectors and subcontractors on site.
• Assist in estimating, bidding, and tracking costs to manage project budgets.
• Resolve and clarify design issues and field changes.
• Write contracts and purchase orders using boilerplate language for documentation.
• Participate in meetings to coordinate work and manage labor concerns.
• Ensure work meets quality standards and contract specifications.
• Implement project schedules and monitor progress against milestones.
• Document technical, financial and personnel aspects of projects.
• Review drawings, specs, submittals and change orders; track progress.
