Job summary

Quest Diagnostics is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for Pittsburgh, PA (Thursday to Monday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM) in Microbiology. This entry-to-mid level role requires a BS in Medical Technology or related field and at least 1 year of high-complexity clinical experience.

Qualifications

BS in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science preferred; or BS in Microbiology, Chemistry or Biology, or Previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493
1 year Clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred.

Responsibilities

Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test result.
Maintain records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
Review and release test results.
Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
Follow the laboratory's policies and procedures when test systems are not within established performance levels.
Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting and notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
