Job summary

Birdon America Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I to join our onsite Bayou La Batre, AL shipyard team. You will plan and perform engineering and drafting work, create 2D drawings and 3D models, and manage part numbers and BOMs in our ERP system.

The role requires at least 2 years in product design/engineering and a High School Diploma or GED, with knowledge of marine or manufacturing industries. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and an Equal Opportunity Employer statement.

Qualifications

• Plan and perform engineering and technical work on design, engineering and drafting of company products.
• Complete 2D drawings, 3D models and manufacturing drawings from existing layouts.
• Develop manufacturing drawings per industry and engineering standards.
• Verify designs using 3D modelling in Solidworks, PRO-E, or Autodesk Inventor for form, fit and function.
• Assign part numbers for new parts and purchased items.
• Organize and maintain production drawing files in the ERP system or vault.
• Create and maintain accurate Bills of Materials.
• Handle engineering changes and corrective actions to refine products.

Responsibilities

• Plan and perform design and drafting on company products.
• Create 2D/3D models from design layouts and update manufacturing drawings.
• Maintain BOMs and part numbers in ERP; manage drawing storage and revisions.
• Support engineering changes and corrective actions based on shop-floor input.
