Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking an entry-level Mechanic C to learn product knowledge and quality standards. You will follow branch-to-national procedures, perform preventive maintenance, and contribute to keeping equipment rental-ready.

You’ll learn operating procedures while growing toward higher-level mechanics. This role focuses on safe, professional maintenance with opportunities to advance and gain broader expertise in fleet systems and diagnostics within a leading North American equipment rental

Qualifications

Accredited education in heavy equipment repair or 1 year of related experience.
Owns hand and air/electric tools sufficient to complete most repairs.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Interest and willingness to learn electrical and hydraulic systems.

Responsibilities

Follow a consistent schedule of preventative maintenance for all Herc fleet at the branch.
Operate and test equipment to meet Herc Rentals quality and efficiency standards.
Perform routine maintenance and repairs under direct supervision.
Diagnose small tools and light rental equipment with assistance from senior mechanics.
Perform major repairs to maintain fleet equipment using diagnostic tools and hand tools under direct supervision.
Conduct oil changes, lubrication, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery work.
Enter work orders and complete part ordering via fleet management system.
Assist in reconditioning and replacing assorted parts of heavy equipment.
Learn what is covered by warranties and adjust work accordingly.
Maintain a clean, organized work area and produce repair logs.
