Job summary

City of Hemet is seeking candidates for the Maintenance Aide I (Temporary/Part-Time) Apprentice program. The role supports the Public Works Divisions - Streets, Water, and Parks, with training on applications, interviews, and City classifications.

Duties include weed abatement, cleaning restrooms, stocking grounds, and inventorying trees. The program offers education and career guidance, supervised work experience, and hands-on training across divisions.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform a variety of unskilled maintenance tasks.
• Ability to use basic hand tools and operate small power-driven equipment.
• Ability to follow verbal and written directions and work cooperatively with others.

Responsibilities

• Remove weeds from City right‑of‑ways and grounds; weed flower beds, fence lines, and clean up parkways, streets and parks.
• Sweep gutters and sidewalks; collect and dispose of debris and leaves.
• Use a variety of hand and power tools and light equipment.
• Assist with maintenance tasks across divisions as needed.
