Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking an Entry-Level Low Voltage Technician for a contract-to-hire role based in Alcoa, TN. You will assist with installation, testing, and servicing of life-safety, security, and communication systems, learning from experienced technicians on projects like fire alarm, access control, CCTV, and nurse call.

You will pull and terminate CAT5e/CAT6 cables, test systems, and help with documentation while maintaining safe, organized worksites.

Qualifications

• Coachable and quick to learn on-site
• Basic understanding of CAT5e/CAT6 cabling and RJ45 terminations
• Familiar with low-voltage systems and basic electrical knowledge
• Willing to travel to customer sites as needed
• Experience with hand tools, drills, and basic computer software

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation of fire alarm, security, access control, CCTV, nurse call, and communication systems.

Description

This client is seeking a motivated Entry-Level Low Voltage Technician to assist with the installation, testing, and servicing of life-safety, security, and communication systems. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in the low-voltage industry and receive hands-on technical training. The technician will work alongside experienced team members to learn the installation and troubleshooting of fire alarm, access control, CCTV/video surveillance, nurse call, and intercom systems, which are among the systems Gallaher technicians currently support.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with installation of fire alarm, security, access control, CCTV, nurse call, and communication systems.
• Pull, route, terminate, label, and test low-voltage cabling.
• Assist with mounting cameras, card readers, devices, sensors, panels, and other system components.
• Learn basic point-to-point troubleshooting and system testing.
• Use hand tools, power tools, meters, testers, and basic computer software.
• Read and follow basic drawings, floor plans, wiring diagrams, and installation documents.
• Maintain clean and organized jobsites.
• Communicate job progress or issues to the lead technician or project manager.
• Follow company and jobsite safety requirements.
• Learn proper system commissioning, testing, and documentation procedures.
• Travel to customer jobsites as assigned.
• Perform other installation and service duties as skills develop.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
