Job summary

CGS Federal (Contact Government Services) is seeking an entry-level Paralegal to support United States Attorneys under the supervision of a Supervisory Paralegal or Project Supervisor. You will draft legal documents, file motions and subpoenas, and assist with discovery and trial preparation.

The position requires paralegal credentials or current ABA-law school attendance, with experience in litigation support tools and legal research.

Qualifications

• Requires paralegal certificate, JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study.
• One year of legal training or legal experience or at least two years of college education may be substituted for the paralegal certificate.
• At least one year of litigation paralegal experience or project experience is required; trial experience very helpful.
• Automation experience with litigation support tools and knowledge of eDiscovery is preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills plus strong computer skills (word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and imaging).

Responsibilities

• Collects court ordered restitutions and fines for defendants.
• Drafts legal documents and files them using ECF.
• Prepares garnishments, liens, and other process documents for collection.
• Sends demand letters and files liens; runs credit reports and subpoenas.
• Manages and tracks collection activity in internal databases.
• Coordinates collection activity with AUSAs in MPU.
• Performs research in public and legal databases to gather information on assets.
• Prepares documents using templates (motions, memoranda, subpoenas, etc.).
• Maintains case materials and calendars; assists with discovery and trial prep.
