Job summary

Coast Electric is seeking an Apprentice Lineman to assist in the construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting of overhead and underground power lines. Learn to apply RUS specifications and NEC standards while working under experienced crews for reliability in Mississippi.

This entry-level role offers hands-on training, safety-first procedures, and a path toward Journeyman status. Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, a CDL Class A, and willingness to relocate within the service area.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required; HS diploma preferred.
• Lineman certificate or six months utility-industry experience required.
• Valid Class A CDL license required.
• Must reside within 25 miles of the reporting office or be willing to relocate within the Mississippi service area.
• Must be able to read safety manuals, regulations and procedures.
• Must be able to operate bucket-life, forklift, backhoe, trencher, drill, chainsaw, shovel and related tools.
• Must obtain First Aid/CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction, maintenance, and repair of distribution power lines.
• Learn line construction basics and proper tool/material terminology.
• Follow RUS specs, NEC standards and safety procedures.
• Assist with pole installation, conductor stringing, splicing and equipment installation.
• Operate utility tools and equipment and support storm response.
• Assist with trimming trees/brush for line work and work overtime as required.
