The Position

We’re seeking a recent graduate or entry-level landscape designer who is passionate about the profession and eager to grow. In this role, you’ll work closely with our team to generate innovative ideas, produce detailed sketches and renderings, and collaborate with clients and stakeholders to bring projects to life. You’ll gain hands-on experience while also developing problem-solving skills and learning about efficient production techniques. If you align with our core values of Design Excellence, Collaboration Equity, and Life Balance, and possess strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills, we’d love to hear from you. Basic knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office, and AutoCAD is required, and experience with additional design tools like LandFX, Revit, and SketchUp is a plus.

Skills you need to be able to do this job:

  • Alignment with Hitchcock Design Group’s Core Values: Design Excellence, Collaboration Equity, Life Balance
  • Passion for creativity and design
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to clearly convey design concepts and project details with guidance from senior staff
  • Eagerness to learn and stay updated with industry trends and technologies, enthusiasm for the profession, and a commitment to professional growth
  • Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork ability
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Initiative, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong presentation and listening skills
  • Basic knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Adobe Suite
  • Experience with LandFX, Revit, GIS, SketchUp, Lumion, and 3DS Max is a plus

Job Duties:

  • Participate in generation of ideas
  • Utilize AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, 3D Modeling, and Hand Drawing to produce sketches, drawings, and renderings to communicate the team’s ideas
  • Collaborate with clients, team members, and stakeholders to understand and interpret project requirements, provide updates, and ensure alignment with project goals
  • Generate construction documentation packages including layout, grading and drainage, planting, detailing, and product specifications
  • Review and edit your work for completeness and accuracy and make changes based on redlines from others
  • Participate, as directed, in project meetings with clients, design team, and/or contractors by listening, asking questions, taking notes, and communicating as appropriate
  • Become an integrated part of the team with the collective goal of producing designs and documents that meet or exceed the expectations set by our clients
  • Due to the hands-on nature of this position, you will have the opportunity to learn various production skills that Project Managers might not engage with daily. We expect you to communicate those back to your team. In doing so, you will develop problem-solving skills, develop more efficient ways to streamline tasks, and become resilient to challenges that arise during project execution.

What We Offer:

  • Flexible/Hybrid Work Environment: Choose the work location that best fits your needs. We prioritize work-life balance.
  • Generous Time Off: 15 days of paid time off annually, plus 9 holidays and 1 floating holiday
  • Retirement Benefits: Self-directed 401(k) with a 4% employer contribution, no match required
