Dallas County is seeking an entry-level Juvenile Detention Officer to supervise youths in a 24-hour detention facility. The role includes ensuring health and safety, and enforcing facility rules to maintain order.

You will provide counseling to youths, document actions, and support staff with transport and intake tasks. Candidate must meet TJJD standards, obtain First Aid/CPR, and be 21+ with a valid Texas license.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED equivalent.
• Must obtain First Aid/CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
• Must be certified as required by TJJD standards within six months of employment.

Responsabilités

• Supervise youths in a 24-hour detention facility to ensure health, safety and welfare.
• Provide individual and group counseling to youths to promote responsibility and alternatives.
• Make sound judgments during crisis and inform supervisor of actions taken; document accordingly.
• Discipline youths and report behavior; forward information to appropriate staff.
• Back-up staff duties include transporting youths, processing intakes/discharges, and handling with care techniques.
• Conduct inspections, rounds, drills, and room searches; transport youths to appointments.
• Coordinate daily educational and entertaining programs for youths.
