Dallas County Votes is seeking an entry-level Juvenile Detention Officer to provide direct supervision to youths in a 24-hour detention facility in Dallas. The role emphasizes safety, health and welfare in compliance with departmental policies.

You will counseling youths, enforce rules, assist with admissions, transports, and daily programs, and may be required to perform restraints per TJJD standards. Strong communication and a valid Texas driver’s license are essential.

Formación

• High school diploma or GED required.
• First Aid/CPR certification within 90 days.
• Texas driver’s license with good driving record.
• Background investigation required; mandatory drug testing.
• Must pass Juvenile Academy standards (PREA and Ethics).

Responsabilidades

• Supervise youths in a 24-hour detention facility to ensure safety.
• Provide individual and group counseling to youths.
• Make crisis decisions when supervisor is unavailable and document actions.
• Discipline youths per facility rules and record behavior.
• Assist with medications, transports, intake assessments, and discharges.
• Coordinate daily educational and entertaining activities.
• Perform room checks, searches, and facility rounds.
• Be prepared for overtime and shift changes.
