Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must obtain First Aid/CPR within 90 days of hire.
• Valid Texas driver’s license with good driving record.
• Pass extensive background investigation and mandatory drug testing.
• Must be at least 21 years old and able to work in a 24-hour facility.
• Ability to adhere to TJJD standards and agency policies.

Responsibilities

• Supervise youths in a 24-hour detention facility to ensure safety.
• Provide individual and group counseling to youths.
• Make sound judgments during crises and document actions.
• Discipline youths per facility rules and report incidents.
• Assist with medications, transportation, intake and discharge.
• Conduct room checks, inspections and searches.
• Coordinate daily educational and entertaining programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
