Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Raleigh, NC is seeking an entry-level ITS/Traffic Engineer to join our NC ITS/Traffic Team. The role involves design of traffic signal layouts, fiber optic routing, signing and striping, and traffic safety studies, with guidance from experienced professionals.

Responsibilities include conducting investigations, preparing straightforward technical reports, and assisting with coordination across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Completion of Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering degree from an ABET accredited college/university.
• Minimal experience is required with a Bachelor's Degree; Master's degree may waive experience requirements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation (preferred).
• Proficient interpersonal and communications skills.
• Capability to develop technical writings and reports.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop plans and drawings for ITS and Traffic projects, including preliminary and final drawings.
• Organize ITS and Traffic investigations, planning, and analysis with defined scope.
• Prepare straightforward technical reports under supervision.
• Research design approaches, site conditions, and industry best practices.
• Contribute to specifications and permit applications; estimate man-hours and materials.
• Support quality control and review computations and drawings for correctness.
• Coordinate with other disciplines; perform field observations as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
