Job summary

CalAmp is seeking an entry-level Engineer I, Test in Carlsbad, CA to support internal telematics device testing tools and data platforms within the Vehicle Engineering group.

Develop data extraction code from multiple sources, maintain C# diagnostic apps, and assist SQL ingestion. Strong skills in C#, Python, and Excel are required, with exposure to MQTT, CAN/J1939, and serial interfaces.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Proficiency in C# and Python; working knowledge of serial communication fundamentals.
• Proficiency in MS Excel: formulas, pivot tables, data formatting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop code to extract data from Excel, MS Access, JSON, XML, or PDF and format for SQL ingestion.
• Assist with data ingestion into SQL databases and maintain internal testing tools.
• Maintain and enhance C# diagnostic and automation apps used for telematics device testing.
• Support MQTT broker integrations, topic subscriptions/publish, and routing.
• Handle CAN/J1939 data capture, decoding, logging, filtering, and replay.
• Debug and improve test execution software and XML-based test definitions.
