Job summary

CalAmp seeks a Software Engineer II in Carlsbad, CA to design and build scalable backend systems powering CalAmp Telematics Cloud (CTC). You will work on high-volume IoT data processing and deliver real-time insights using AWS, Kafka, and Kubernetes.

You will translate product requirements into scalable designs, develop production-ready applications, and contribute to architecture decisions in a fast-paced environment. Collaboration with product, engineering, and DevOps teams is essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
• Strong experience with Java and object-oriented programming.
• Experience building backend services using frameworks such as Spring Boot.
• Experience building microservices or distributed systems.
• Experience working with a cloud platform (AWS preferred).
• Experience designing scalable and reliable systems.
• Experience working in production environments (monitoring, debugging, performance optimization).
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, secure code.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale microservices using modern cloud technologies.
