Job summary

The Cardiovascular Technologist I (CVT I) at Albany Medical Center is an entry-level developmental position designed to support diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures in a high-acuity academic medical center. Under a structured orientation, you will gain hands-on experience in cardiac catheterization, hemodynamic monitoring, and collaboration with physicians, nurses, and imaging staff.

Prior Cath Lab experience is not required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Cardiovascular Technology program or qualifying post-secondary health science/allied health program.
• Prior Cath Lab experience not required.
• Previous cardiovascular, acute-care, procedural, or related clinical experience preferred but not required.
• BLS required upon hire.
• ACLS required within six months of hire.
• RCIS preferred but not required for CVT I.
• PALS required within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Complete a structured orientation and competency pathway in invasive cardiovascular technology.
• Develop proficiency in cardiovascular anatomy, coronary angiography, hemodynamics, procedural workflow, and cardiovascular equipment.
• Perform hemodynamic monitoring and procedural documentation using McKesson and Epic.
• Develop sterile technique and scrub skills beginning with diagnostic cardiac catheterization and progressing into interventional procedures based on demonstrated competency.
• Prepare procedural rooms, equipment, supplies, and devices for diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures.
• Assist the multidisciplinary team during routine, complex, and emergent cardiovascular care.
• Develop the knowledge and technical skills required to recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately during procedural emergencies.
• Participate in the emergency on-call rotation following successful completion of orientation and required competency validation.
