Job summary

Polycor Brand at Empire Mill in Oolitic, IN is seeking an Entry Level Maintenance Technician to support safe, reliable operation of plant equipment. This developmental role focuses on building skills through hands-on maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and preventive tasks on production lines.

You will perform routine maintenance, assist with repairs, read manuals, and follow safety protocols including lockout/tagout.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Mechanical aptitude and interest in industrial maintenance required.
• Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
• Ability to learn mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting.
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn from experienced maintenance employees.
• Ability to work safely and follow established procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on production equipment and facility systems.
• Assist with troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical equipment issues.
• Complete assigned preventive maintenance and equipment inspections.
• Respond to equipment issues and assist experienced maintenance employees with repairs and troubleshooting.
• Identify and communicate equipment concerns that could affect safety, quality, or production.
• Replace and repair common components such as bearings, belts, chains, motors, pumps, and other mechanical parts.
• Assist with equipment installation, fabrication, welding, and plant improvement projects.
• Read and follow equipment manuals, work instructions, and basic mechanical drawings.
• Complete work orders and maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
• Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and required PPE.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
• Participate in training and develop skills in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and other industrial maintenance systems.
• Support plant shutdowns, equipment installations, and other maintenance activities as needed.
