Quest Diagnostics Incorporated in Newtown Square, PA is seeking a Grossing Technician I to perform surgical gross examinations of small, uncomplicated specimens. The role operates Monday to Friday, from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, with a starting pay range of $26.48+ per hour.

Formación

• 1 year of histology and/or grossing experience
• Bachelor's Degree (Life Sciences) - Required
• Meets all requirements as outlined in corporate Minimum Qualifications for Personnel Performing Tissue Gross Examinations SOP and 1988 CLIA CFR 493.1489.

Responsabilidades

• Perform routine and non-routine activities involved in the preparation of surgical specimens for histologic processing, according to policies and procedures.
• Assure appropriate specimen accessioning and labeling
• Maintain the integrity of the specimen and patient identification.
• Describe gross anatomic features of routine, uncomplicated surgical specimens, ensuring that all lesions, markings and sutures are mentioned.
• Capable of grossing low to moderately complex/complicated specimens under direct and indirect supervision.
• Escalates non-routine, complicated surgical specimens to Pathologist Assistants or Pathologists.
• Record measurements, weight, volume and any abnormal findings as applicable.
• Dissect surgical specimens and prepare tissues for histologic processing.
• May be trained to perform basic Histology functions (embedding, microtomy, stains, frozen sectioning) if qualified.
• Complete all associated paperwork and follow applicable procedures.
• Interact with pathologists regarding gross dissection/description activities.
• Identify problems that may affect test performance and notify supervisor.
• Ensure compliance with safety, QA standards and regulations.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
