Job summary

Quanta Services is seeking a Design Engineer I to support overhead transmission line design, utilizing PLS-CADD modeling, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and ArcGIS. You will help develop design criteria, perform structural analyses, and ensure compliance with NESC, IEEE, ANSI, and IBC, while collaborating with project teams.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, ABET-accredited, and up to 10% travel.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
Knowledge in AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, or similar CAD tools.
Understanding of design codes and standards such as NESC, IEEE, ANSI, IBC.
Knowledge of engineering drafting and design principles.
Ability to travel as necessary, up to 10% of the time

Responsibilities

Support overhead transmission line design with PLS-CADD modeling and line routing.
Perform structure analysis and loading trees; develop design criteria.
Calculate sag-tension, wire blowout, swing angle, and dampers.
Use CAD software to create scaled drawings and mappings.
Implement engineering redlines with accuracy before drafting final drawings.
Conduct engineering calculations including voltage drop, cable pulling, flicker analysis, and pole loading assessments.
Prepare joint use authorizations from field data.
Maintain project documentation and support engineering calculations.
Work 40 hours per week with potential up to 50 hours and occasional overtime.
