Job summary

GFT is seeking an Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer to join our Geotechnical Team in Woodbury, NY or New York, NY. You will contribute to geotechnical analyses for transit, rail, highway, and structural projects, with a focus on sustainability and compliance.

Fall 2026 graduates are encouraged to apply. The role involves planning subsurface explorations, report prep, and field observations, with occasional travel to project sites.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Civil Engineering degree required.
• 0-3 years geotechnical experience preferred.
• Demonstrated geotechnical interest via coursework/internships.
• Strong written and verbal communication required.
• Analytical, organizational, and report writing skills essential.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Excellent field observation and data collection skills.
• Must lift 30 pounds and walk rough terrain.
• Valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical calculations and designs (shallow/deep foundations, slopes, etc.).
• Assist in reports, drawings, specs, and geotechnical correspondence.
• Plan subsurface explorations and lab testing.
• Execute subsurface investigations (boring inspections, site visits).
• Provide geo-construction observation during construction.
• Travel to other offices/sites as needed.
