Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Full-Time Entry-Level Geoscientist to join our team supervised by our Lead Geophysicist. You will collaborate with remote sensing, geospatial field services, and geotechnical teams on renewable energy and power-related projects.

Responsibilities include planning surveys with GPR, resistivity, and magnetometers, processing data, coordinating site investigations, and preparing reports and proposals while maintaining quality and client communication.

Qualifications

• Completion or near completion of a B.S. or M.S. program in the geological sciences; 1–3 years of related work experience preferred.
• Experience collecting and processing near-surface geophysical data, specifically with GPR and magnetometers.
• Familiarity with geotechnical engineering and testing, remote sensing fundamentals, and GIS analysis.
• Strong technical and interpersonal skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• Attention to detail and ability to check quality of own work.
• Ability to work independently and manage time, planning and prioritizing tasks.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Willingness to adapt to changing technologies and industry trends.
• Valid driver’s license with favorable driving record.
• Ability to travel and work in the field up to 2 weeks or 15–20% overall.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and terrains.
• Proficiency in MS Office; Oasis Montaj, ArcGIS, QGIS, and AutoCAD are assets; scripting knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan geophysical surveys and acquire data in the field (GPR, resistivity, magnetometer).
• Process and interpret ground-based and aerial geophysical and remote sensing data.
• Lead on-site coordination and execution of geotechnical site investigations with drilling subcontractors.
• Prepare geophysical, remote sensing, and geotechnical deliverables, reports, and proposals.
• Keep management advised of work status and progress.
