Job summary

City of Fairhope is seeking an entry-level Gas Utility Worker to assist the Gas Crew Leader in repairing gas lines, installing services to homes and businesses, and performing trenching under supervision.

You will respond to emergencies, communicate with the public, and participate in safety trainings; a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver's license are required, with background checks and drug screening.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver license; must be insurable.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and initial drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Repairs gas line leaks and ensures repairs pass inspections.
• Installs residential and commercial gas services; installs gas main distribution lines.
• Uses ditching equipment to open service line trenches and backfills properly.
• Responds to gas system emergencies as part of a designated team.
• Responds to public requests for information in a professional manner.
