Job summary

RECONN is hiring entry-level personnel to support gas leak locating operations in Detroit. You will read maps, locate leaks, and report findings in a fast-paced field environment. Training is provided, with daytime, full-time shifts and possible overtime.

Qualifications

• Willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Overtime, weekend, and on-call shifts as needed.
• Local travel within business area; some overnight travel may be required.
• Must pass a drug screen for safety-sensitive position.
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• Ability to stand, walk long periods, bend and stoop; lift up to 75 lbs.
• Proficiency with technology and basic tools.
• Clear communication with colleagues, customers, contractors, homeowners.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret gas company maps and records.
• Detect, locate, and evaluate leaks using prescribed procedures.
• Classify leaks per guidelines and report to gas company under contract.
• Complete daily workload accurately, efficiently, and on time.
• Perform locates with safety in mind.
• Complete required paperwork and sketches.
• Maintain communication with Management.
• Assist in other areas if needed.
• Follow employee manual guidelines.
• Be willing to perform duties in new areas when asked.
• Respect and care for company-issued equipment.

• Classify leaks in accordance with company/ contractual guidelines and procedures
• Immediately report leaks to gas company under contract
• Complete daily workload on accurately, efficiently, and on time
• Perform locates with safety in mind
• Complete required paperwork and sketches
• Keep lines of communication open with Management
• Help in other areas if needed
• Follow company guidelines set forth in employee manual
• Be willingly to perform duties in new areas when asked
• Respect and care for company issued equipment

What We Need from You (Our Requirements):

• Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Previous outdoor experience is a plus
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed
• Ability to travel locally during the business day; some out-of-area or overnight travel may be expected
• Able to pass a drug screen (this is a safety-sensitive position)
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record
• Able to stand and walk for long periods of time on varying types of terrain; bendand stoop; lift heavy items up to 75 lbs.
• Proficiency with technology
• Ability to use simple hand tools
• Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners. Customer service experience is a plus
