Job summary

RECONN is hiring entry-level gas leak surveyors in Dearborn, MI. You’ll use basic tech and maps to survey gas lines, identify leaks, classify and document findings.

This daytime, full-time role may require overtime and weekend work; training is provided and no prior specialized experience is needed. You’ll work outdoors in varying weather, travel locally, pass a drug screen, and hold a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Willing to work outdoors in all weather.
• Available for overtime, weekends and on-call shifts.
• Willing to travel locally, some overnight travel possible.
• Able to pass a drug screen (safety-sensitive role).
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Proficient with basic technology and small tools.

A gas leak surveyor provides an important service to utilities and the public. Leak survey technicians use a variety of equipment to survey gas lines ensuring pipeline integrity. When a leak is detected, it is investigated, classified, and documented. Basic skills needed are computer skills, map reading, routing, and problem solving.

These are entry-level, daytime/full-time positions and overtime may be required. Instructor led training will be provided. This position may require you to work weekends.

What We Need From You (Our Requirements)

• Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Previous outdoor experience is a plus
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed
• Ability to travel locally during the business day; some out-of-area or overnight travel may be expected
• Able to pass a drug screen (this is a safety-sensitive position)
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving recordAble to stand and walk for long periods of time on varying types of terrain; bend and stoop; lift heavy items up to 75 lbs.
• Proficiency with technology
• Ability to use simple hand tools
• Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners. Customer service experience is a plus
