Job summary

Safeway at Nome, Alaska is seeking a Front-End Team Member to ensure a smooth checkout experience for customers. You will scan items, bag groceries, and answer questions while keeping the front end organized and running smoothly.

The role involves handling transactions, assisting customers, and maintaining the checkout area in a fast-paced environment. Prior customer service is a plus, with training provided on hire.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older (or 18 years of age or older, depending on local/state requirements)
• Completion of company cashier or front-end training upon hire
• Basic math and communication skills required
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Prior customer service experience preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Assist customers at checkout and answer questions to ensure a smooth experience
• Process purchases accurately including cash, card, and digital payments
• Scan items, bag groceries, and maintain a clean, organized front-end area
• Restock supplies and collect carts as needed
• Follow store policies and checkout procedures while adapting to changing priorities
