Job summary

Roseburg Forest Products is seeking an entry-level forester focused on learning the basics of applied intensive forestry. This field-oriented role involves independent and team field work, with assignments from Forester III or Area Manager, and a strong emphasis on early silviculture and forest operations.

Responsibilities include planting, thinning, vegetation management, surveys, GIS mapping, and supporting harvest operations while adhering to state rules and reporting procedures.

Qualifications

• High School diploma with 6-12 months related forestry field experience.
• Must be physically capable of working on steep terrain in all weather conditions.
• Ability to work alone and navigate in the woods using maps or digital aids.
• Self-starter with ability to make independent decisions.

Responsibilities

• Perform silvicultural activities such as tree planting, thinning, vegetation management, and animal damage control.
• Conduct stocking surveys and develop vegetation management and restocking prescriptions.
• Perform inventory cruising field work to Roseburg Forest Products specifications.
• Assist Operations staff with surveying property lines, sites, stockpile inventories, and road locations.
• Develop GIS work maps for field work and assist with burn planning and regulatory compliance.
