Job summary

Sierra Pacific Industries, a fourth-generation family-owned company, has an opening for a District Forester in Oregon, based out of Eugene or Roseburg. This role leads timber harvest activities, budgets, and silvicultural programs while coordinating with regulators and agencies.

The position requires a forestry degree or equivalent experience, plus familiarity with logging systems and Oregon forest rules. Excellent benefits accompany the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in forestry or related field or equivalent recent experience.
• 1 year experience in harvest engineering and/or harvest unit layout in the Pacific Northwest preferred.
• Understanding of cable and ground-based logging systems and forest road construction.

Responsibilities

• Implement all aspects of the timber harvest program including harvest layout, permitting, road building, and log quality control.
• Assist in development of harvest budgets and forecasts.
• Collaborate on silvicultural programs including reforestation and vegetation management.
• Interact with state regulatory agencies and diverse groups.
• Coordinate with Federal, State, and local agencies for wildfire protection of Company lands.
• Hike in remote mountainous regions using maps, compass, or GPS.
