Job summary

Coffman Engineers in Bozeman, MT, and Boise, ID, is seeking an entry-level Fire Protection Engineer to join our in-office team. This position requires full-time presence at the Bozeman or Boise offices to support training and mentorship.

The role will involve automatic suppression system design, fire detection and alarm design, code analysis, egress analysis, and life-safety research under the guidance of licensed engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in engineering from accredited college or university.
• Civil, Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degrees will be considered.
• Background working in the Fire Protection or Fire Alarm industry (preferred).
• Experience with drafting software (REVIT and AutoCAD) (preferred).
• General building construction knowledge (preferred).
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work on a high-functioning team.

Responsibilities

• Design automatic suppression systems including fire detection and alarm systems.
• Perform code analysis, egress analysis, and fire-resistance construction analysis.
• Conduct smoke control analysis and life-safety research as needed.
• Support overall fire protection and life-safety concepts within projects.
