Job summary

WSP is seeking an On-call Entry Level Survey Technician for our Columbus, OH office. You will support field crews on topographic design surveys, construction staking, and utility surveys while learning standard surveying practices in a safety‑driven environment.

You'll work outdoors, record field notes accurately, and collaborate with engineers and surveyors. A high school diploma and a valid driver's license are required, with training provided for pipeline design surveys and as‑built work.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• Valid state driver's license.
• Good interpersonal, documentation, and computer skills (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
• Willing to learn basic principles of pipeline design surveys, construction staking, and as-built surveys.
• Ability to record information in a legible and accurate manner (Field Notes).
• Professional oral and written communication skills.
• Sound self-leadership with attention to detail and multi-tasking.

Responsibilities

• Act as the on-site representative for WSP.
• Attend a Job Hazard Analysis Meeting every morning with field crew.
• Locate and probe existing company gas lines.
• Conduct topographical survey data gathering on terrain features.
• Take field notes of field data gathered.
• Interface with landowners and refer questions to Sr. Surveyors/client representative.
• Brush Clearing.
• Complete training on assigned tasks as needed.
• Work collaboratively with other professionals on survey tasks.
• Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding resources and conduct.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
