Job summary

Pike Corporation seeks an entry-level Meter Reader to read residential and commercial meters and interact with customers daily. The role reports to a supervisor and requires readiness for outdoor work in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities include processing meter orders, reading meters for billing, and maintaining safety and paperwork standards. Training is provided to learn service area geography and procedures.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate accurately and courteously with customers and personnel.
• Ability to understand and promptly and safely carry out oral, visual and written instructions.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work.
• Willing to assist fellow workers when needed.
• Eyesight correctable to read meters and perform paperwork.

Responsibilities

• Read residential and commercial meters (electric, gas, water).
• Work meter service orders and report hazardous conditions.
• Procure re-reads/unread meter readings for billing.
• Maintain professional image when interacting with customers.
• Serve as a communication link between customer and CDE.
• Attend routine training classes and seminars.
• Willing to learn geography for service area as it expands.
