Job summary

New Castle County Government is seeking an entry-level maintenance worker to perform general unskilled and semi-skilled manual tasks under supervision. Duties include sewer maintenance, grounds work, and related tasks.

Must be able to lift heavy items, follow simple instructions, and work in varying weather. A valid Delaware Class D driver’s license is required; background checks and a physical may be required. An eligible list will be used for vacancies over the next year.

Qualifications

• Entry level classification; no prior experience required.
• Must be able to lift heavy items and perform manual tasks.
• Willing to work outdoors in varying weather.
• Possession of a valid Delaware Class D driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Performs pick and shovel work and lays pipe during sewer maintenance.
• Cleans gutters, culverts, and drainage structures.
• Loads and unloads materials and operates basic equipment.
• Drives a truck or van on a relief or intermittent basis.
