Job summary

The City of Wasilla, AK invites applications for an entry-level Facilities Technician I responsible for routine building and grounds maintenance, basic repairs, and seasonal operations. Under supervision, you will gain proficiency with City facilities and equipment and escalate complex issues as needed.

Responsibilities include preventative maintenance, basic troubleshooting of systems, and maintaining safe, organized work areas.

Qualifications

Entry-level position with on-the-job training.
Valid Alaska driver’s license preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience considered.

Responsibilities

Perform routine carpentry, painting, drywall repair, basic plumbing maintenance, cleaning, grounds maintenance, and other general facility repairs within training scope.
Conduct routine inspections of buildings, grounds, fixtures, and equipment; document findings and report safety hazards and conditions.
Complete assigned preventive-maintenance tasks using established procedures, checklists, and work-orders.
Assist with basic troubleshooting of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, control, mechanical, security systems under guidance.
Support winter and seasonal operations, including snow/ice removal and storm response.
Maintain clean, organized, safe work areas, shops, vehicles, and equipment-storage areas.
