Job summary

Basin Street Properties in Petaluma, CA is hiring an Assistant Building Engineer I to support operation, maintenance, and repair of commercial buildings. You will work under senior staff to troubleshoot HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and BAS systems while delivering safe, reliable tenant experiences.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and at least one year in facilities maintenance, basic HVAC skills, and familiarity with CMMS.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least one year of experience in facilities maintenance, building operations, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or related trades.
• Basic HVAC troubleshooting skills.
• Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Windows).
• Valid California driver's license with satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to communicate professionally with tenants, contractors, and coworkers.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on building systems per schedules.
• Assist with operation, monitoring, and basic troubleshooting of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and BAS systems.
• Inspect mechanical rooms, rooftops, and equipment for deficiencies.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors ensuring safe, per standards.
• Maintain maintenance records using CMMS.
• Respond to tenant service requests promptly.
