Matrix Service Company is seeking an Estimator I to collect data and develop project cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and tooling, ensuring accuracy as project scope evolves. The role supports the Engineering division, applying engineering knowledge to interpret technical details and generate reliable costs.

The preferred location is Pittsburgh, PA. The successful candidate will work with MS Office and estimating software, with opportunities to grow into more advanced estimating

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (or related field) or equivalent combination of education/experience.
• 0–2 years of field and/or office experience preferred; field experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication, Construction and Commissioning terminology.
• Good basic mathematical comprehension.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication with attention to detail.
• Self-motivated team player willing to collaborate and learn new methods.
• Proficient with MS Office and estimating software/databases; scheduling tools like MS Project or Primavera are a plus.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsabilités

• Prepare estimates by calculating material takeoffs for piping, structural steel, and electrical.
• Enter items into estimating software under guidance of experienced estimators.
• Solicit subcontract and vendor pricing within corporate structure.
• Organize information for estimates to meet project needs.
• Attend site visits as directed by senior staff.
• Support cost updates as project scope changes or new information arises.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.
