Job summary

Certerra Southwest in Phoenix/Tempe, AZ is seeking an Entry Level Environmental Scientist to perform field and office duties supporting senior team leaders. You will travel regionally across the Southwest, with emphasis on Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Nevada, and gain training on the job.

Responsibilities include groundwater monitoring, soil sampling, data logging, report writing, and assisting with environmental system design and regulatory compliance efforts.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or Physical Science.
• OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPPER Training.
• Experience with MS Office, CADD, Salesforce, and or Deltek Advantage.
• State or Federal level certifications for asbestos, lead, indoor air quality, industrial hygiene, or environmental management.
• Clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Support field projects including groundwater monitoring, soil sampling, vapor sampling, and operations/maintenance of remediation systems.
• Support planning and design of environmental systems and processes to mitigate/control the discharge of pollutants.
• Monitor, record, and report environmental field measurements.
• Conduct field investigations and inspections to review compliance with regulatory requirements, permits, and specifications.
• Collect soil samples from borings using various drilling rigs for environmental and geotechnical testing, prepare lithologic logs, and perform field screening for contaminants.
• Install groundwater monitoring wells, vadose zone wells, and vapor sampling ports per project specs.
• Log and track data, prepare spreadsheets, calculations for exposure assessments and fate/transport modeling.
• Conduct literature research for interpreting areas of waste management, disposal, and releases to the environment.
• Read and analyze data from past investigations to develop conceptual site models.
• Prepare detailed report narratives and supporting documentation.
