Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an entry-level Civil/Environmental or Chemical Engineer to join the Water Services Group. You will contribute to the design and implementation of water and wastewater facilities, sewer systems, pipelines, and other critical infrastructure while gaining hands-on experience under experienced engineers.

You will work across multiple stages of the project lifecycle, perform site assessments, support hydrologic modeling, and prepare technical reports, drawings, and presentations

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering required.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Entry-level/early-career engineer position to learn and grow in a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of water and wastewater treatment facilities, collection systems, pipelines, and related infrastructure.
• Perform site assessments and field investigations to support project design and development.
• Assist with water quality analyses, engineering calculations, and hydraulic and hydrologic modeling.
• Adjust design parameters and develop solutions based on project requirements, site conditions, and regulatory standards.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, specifications, and other project documentation.
• Develop drawings, maps, presentations, and other project materials using ArcGIS, HEC‑RAS, SWMM, CADD, Excel, and other engineering software.
• Collaborate with project teams and contribute to presentations for clients, industry conferences, and other stakeholders.
• Support construction management activities and participate in fieldwork, providing exposure to projects from initial planning and design through construction.
