Job summary

SCS Engineers is seeking an entry-level civil or environmental engineer for our Houston, TX office. You will support landfill and transfer station projects, advancing sustainable solid waste management and reducing greenhouse gas emissions while delivering practical environmental solutions for municipal and private clients.

Working with professional engineers, you will gain hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle, including planning, design, permitting, construction, and quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering or environmental engineering required.
• At least three months of relevant environmental or engineering experience through internship, employment, or academic research.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and driving record in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Develop grading plans, stormwater designs, water balance models, and related analyses.
• Prepare engineering reports, tables, charts, graphs, sketches and figures.
• Perform construction QA observations to verify conformance with plans and specs.
• Review reports and design plans for accuracy before submission.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
• Collaborate with CAD drafters and use AutoCAD / Civil 3D for basic drawings.
• Prepare permit applications and regulatory submittals.
• Provide field construction oversight and maintain project documentation.
