Job summary

Actalent in Brookfield, WI is seeking an Engineering Test Technician at junior to mid level to join a hands-on engineering team. You’ll set up and run tests, analyze data, and help develop new product concepts alongside spirited engineers.

The role emphasizes calibration, lab upkeep, wiring, and collaboration with design teams, with a contract-to-hire path and onsite work. Ideal candidates hold a technical degree and practical testing experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or associate degree in a technical field or military training.
• Fundamentals of electronics, AC/DC circuits, motors, sensors, pneumatics and controllers.
• Strong problem solving, troubleshooting and organizational skills.
• Able to solder, wire components and use hand/power tools.
• Knowledge of mechatronics combining mechanical, pneumatic and electrical components.

Responsibilities

• Set up, execute and analyze engineering tests including prototyping and performance assessments.
• Ensure thoroughness, timeliness and accuracy of work and maintain lab operations.
• Collect and analyze test data; prepare reports and communicate findings.
• Diagnose lab equipment issues and perform preventative maintenance.
• Assemble/wire bench top solutions and production electrical panels per schematics.
• Contribute to development of testing automation and multi-task efficiently.

Job Title: Engineering Test Technician

If you are a junior level - or entry level - degreed Engineer or an experienced test technician who likes hands‑on work in engineering and product development, please see the details below.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a team of passionate and driven engineers and technicians working on new product development projects.

Responsibilities

• Setup, execute and analyze engineering tests, including prototyping, material evaluations, and performance assessments to validate designs and specifications
• Exercise responsibility for thoroughness, timeliness and accuracy of work performed
• Oversee daily lab operations, including equipment calibration, inventory management and 6s standards
• Collect, document and analyze test data using tools like oscilloscopes, multimeters, and data acquisition systems, prepare detailed reports and communicate findings to engineering team
• Diagnose and resolve issues with lab equipment and experimental setups
• Perform preventative equipment maintenance and repairs of lab equipment
• Knowledge of machine component applications and assembly
• Assemble/wire experimental bench top solutions based on Electrical Schematics
• Wire production electrical control panels based on Electrical Schematics
• Participate in the improvement and development of testing and automated machinery
• Agility to multi-task while maintaining efficiency and organization
• Communicate effectively with engineers and technicians
• Contribute to organizational goals and objectives

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or associate degree in a technical field (Electrical, Electronic, Automation, Mechanical) or military training and education
• Fundamentals of electronics, AC/DC circuits, motors, sensors, pneumatics and controllers
• Fundamental mechanical abilities and hands‑off experience
• Strong organizational, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• Able to use hand tools and power tools
• Ability to solder and wire components
• Knowledge of mechatronics incorporating mechanical, pneumatics, and electrical components

Bonus Skills

• Familiarity with LabVIEW, PLCs, safety controllers, IO link
• Basic skills in Electrical and/or Mechanical SolidWorks
• Hands‑on fabrication experience i.e. mill, lathe, welding, etc.
• Experience with data collection systems and sensor integration

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brookfield, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $75000.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
