Job summary

City of Dallas is seeking an Electronic Technician Assistant who will learn and assist with installation, operation, repair and maintenance of electronic equipment across communications, traffic signal control, flood control and pumping stations to ensure reliable service.

Under direct supervision, you will work with senior technicians, conduct tests, diagnose malfunctions, document work, and support emergency repairs 24/7.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; one year electronics installation/repair experience.
• A Vocational Diploma, TDLR certificate, or an associate degree in electrical/electronic technology meets education requirements.
• Valid Class C driver's license; Texas license required within probationary period.
• Must be at least 18 and able to assist with electrical work under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior technicians in evaluating performance and reliability of electronic equipment.
• Troubleshoot and replace defective electronic equipment (communications, signals, sound/lighting) to eliminate malfunctions.
• Test circuits and components to diagnose malfunctions and perform maintenance.
• Drive City of Dallas vehicles to facilitate repairs and load tools and materials.
• Document maintenance activities and keep accurate records; participate in training opportunities.
• Respond to emergency calls and assist in repairs on a 24/7 basis.
