Job summary

IMEG, an employee-owned firm, is seeking a BS Electrical Engineer for an in-office role in Urbandale, IA. You will assist in electrical design and analysis for higher-education and campus projects, collaborating with senior engineers and interfacing with clients to ensure accurate requirements and compliant solutions.

The position emphasizes teamwork, safety, and ongoing professional growth within a supportive ESOP culture in a full‑time office setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools and concepts used for technical plans and specifications.
• Strong technical and analytical skills in circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics for building design.
• Familiar with lighting photometric software (AGI, Elum Tools, Visual Lighting) and energy compliance tools (ComCheck).
• Excellent written and oral communication; ability to work collaboratively in a team.
• Willingness to travel up to 5% and stay overnight occasionally.
• Preferred: Building Information Modeling (BIM) knowledge; EIT license; internship in building design consulting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing and analyzing electrical systems using engineering software to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations per code requirements and IMEG standards.
• Interact with clients to understand needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information while building client relationships.
• Support project execution with planning and scheduling tasks to meet deadlines and objectives.
• Document design decisions and client instructions while monitoring design progress.
• Analyze low to medium complexity tasks and collaborate with senior engineers to develop practical solutions.
• Participate in IMEG quality control to ensure designs meet standards and client requirements.
