Qualifications

  • 4‑Year Electrical Engineering degree required.
  • Entry level; diverse range of experience considered.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and SKM/ETAP (or other power systems analysis software) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and adapt standard techniques for electrical projects.
  • Conceptualize initial electrical design and oversee electrical engineering work.
  • Coordinate with plan/specs, design/build, and construction manager roles.
  • Supervise design and progress of projects with city/state officials and outside agencies.
  • Resolve complex design problems and coordinate with clients and subcontractors.
  • Prepare electrical construction drawings, specs, contract documents, and estimates; participate in bidding and on-site management.
  • Conduct electrical systems analyses such as arc flash, short circuit, and coordination studies.
  • Understand power system protection and relaying schemes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Overview

Entry‑Level Electrical Engineer Job Description

Henneman Engineering Inc. – Industrial Technology Group (ITG) provides comprehensive engineering solutions and consulting services to a broad base of clients, including electrical, mechanical, chemical, process, controls, plumbing, and structural engineering. ITG’s industrial clients include heavy manufacturing, food production, chemical processing, consumer products, energy, and renewable energy.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Exercise judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Conceptualize the initial electrical design approach for all project types and have overall responsibility for the electrical engineering work.
  • Knowledgeable in consulting and construction practices to include plan/specifications, design/build, and construction manager roles and responsibilities.
  • Supervise the design and ongoing progress of a project, including the coordination of the project with city, state, and county officials and other outside agencies.
  • Resolve a variety of complex problems (e.g., conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, difficult coordination requirements).
  • Serve as liaison between clients and agencies, subcontractors, and design teams.
  • Organize and prepare all electrical construction drawings (single‑line diagrams, layouts, sections, elevations, and details as appropriate), technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates. Also participate in contract bidding/administration and on‑site project management.
  • Conduct electrical systems analysis, such as arc flash, short circuit, and coordination studies utilizing power system analysis software.
  • Understand power system protection and relaying schemes for electrical distribution systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Requirements
  • Education: 4‑Year Electrical Engineering degree required.
  • Experience: Entry level. However, Henneman Engineering is open to considering a diverse range of experience and skill levels.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and SKM/ETAP (or other power systems analysis software) is preferred.
